Hoverla welcomes back Gumeniuk

Hoverla Ivano-Frankivsk (Superleague) tabbed 29-year old former Ukrainian international center Roman Gumeniuk (220-113kg-87). It is actually his comeback to Frankivsk as he played here before. Gumeniuk started the season at BC Siauliai in Lithuanian LKL league. But in 12 games he averaged just 1.0ppg and 1.2rpg this season. He also played 5 games in FIBA Europe Cup but he had only 0.2ppg and 2.0rpg. Part of last season Gumeniuk spent at Hoverla. In 5 games he had 10.8ppg, 5.2rpg, 1.4apg and 1.6bpg. He also played at ES Sahel (Division I) in Tunisian league earlier that season. In 5 games he had 10.8ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.4apg.
The previous (13-14) season Gumeniuk was tested by DniproAzot. He helped them to make it to the Ukrainian Cup Semifinals. The most of previous (12-13) season Gumeniuk spent at MBC Mykolaiv (SL Favorit Sport). In 34 games he had 4.0ppg, 2.9rpg and 1.3bpg in 2012-13 season. The other team he played shortly was BC Kyiv. In only one game he did not score anything and had only 1 rebound and 1 block.
Among other achievements Gumeniuk's team made it to the Tunisian final in 2015. He received also Eurobasket.com Ukrainian Superleague All-Newcomers Team award back in 2009.
Gumeniuk was also a member of Ukrainian international program for some years. He played for Ukrainian Senior National Team between 2008 and 2012 and previously for U20 National Team between 2004 and 2007. Gumeniuk also represented Ukraine at the World University Games in Belgrade (Serbia) seven years ago. His stats at that event were 2 games: 2.0ppg, 3.5rpg, 1.0spg.
Gumeniuk is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Italy, Latvia (VEF Riga), Russia (Avtodor), Ukraine (BC Odessa and BC-93 Pulsar) and Lithuania (Juventus).
Let's have closer look into Gumeniuk's outlook: A tall center, yet too green and lanky to be a true force in the middle. But he is a true 7-3 man with a huge wingspan who runs well the court, and has dramatically improved over the last seasons. Great upside as a late bloomer.
