American Malique Trent (189-G-94) had an amazing evening in the last round for Zaporizhye and that’s him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 21.
The 24-year old guard had the game-high 21 points adding seven rebounds and nine assists for Zaporizhye in his team’s victory, helping them to beat Cherkasy (#8, 6-15) 96-91. Zaporizhye maintains the 3rd position in Ukrainian Superleague. They would have been even better if they hadn’t lost a few games earlier this season. Zaporizhye will need more victories to improve their 17-9 record. In the team’s last game Trent had a remarkable 100.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Zaporizhye’s top player in his first season with the team. Hampton University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Trent is in league’s top in points (5th best: 17.9ppg), assists (8th best: 4.2apg) and averages solid 3.2spg and 56.0% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was 30-year old American forward Delwan Graham (203-F-88) of Politekhnik. Graham impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. It was enough for Politekhnik to edge the higher-ranked Khimik (#2, 18-8) by 5 points 92-87. Politekhnik’s 7th position in the standings has not changed. 19 lost games are too many comparing to just seven victories Politekhnik managed to get this year. Graham is a newcomer at Politekhnik and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team’s leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.5ppg (#2). He also registered 12.1 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was Nigerian Aleksey Adediran (201-C-82) of Mykolaiv (#5). Adediran scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was a key player of Mykolaiv, leading his team to a 83-79 win against slightly higher-ranked Kyiv Basket (#4, 13-11). The chances of Mykolaiv ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 12 games, recording just eleven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Adediran could help Mykolaiv to bring them higher in the standings. Adediran has a very solid season. In 22 games in Ukraine he scored 9.8ppg. He also has 6.0rpg and FGP: 60.3%.
