American Guard Martez Walker (193-G-95) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked Prometey, receiving a Interperformances Higher League Player of the Week award for round 33.
The 23-year old player was the main contributor (21 points, five rebounds and seven assists) to his team’s victory, helping them to crush KDPU (#2, 21-6) with 20-point margin 103-83. It allowed Prometey to consolidate first place in the Ukrainian Higher League. Prometey has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 30-1. In the team’s last game Walker had a remarkable 100.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Prometey’s top player in his first season with the team. Former Oakland University star has very solid stats this year. Walker is in league’s top in points (7th best: 18.2ppg) and averages impressive 79.4% FGP.

The second best player in last round’s games was 25-year old Olexandr Drobiazko (200-F-93) of Zolotoi Vek. Drobiazko had a very good evening with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Of course he led Zolotoi Vek to another comfortable win 96-77 over the higher-ranked Kharkivski Sokoly (#4, 14-13) being unquestionably team leader. Zolotoi Vek’s 7th position in Group 1 has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 10-18 record. Drobiazko is one of the most experienced players at Zolotoi Vek and has a reputation of one of team’s most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.7ppg (#1). He also registered 9.6 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Zolotoi Vek’s star – swingman Oleksandr Petrov (191-G/F-89). Petrov scored 19 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was another key player of Zolotoi Vek, helping his team with a 96-77 easy win against the higher-ranked Kharkivski Sokoly (#4, 14-13). The chances of Zolotoi Vek not to end season at such low position in Group 1, however are less than slim as they have already lost 18 games, recording just ten victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Petrov could try to bring Zolotoi Vek’s a little bit higher in the standings. Petrov has a very solid season. In 24 games in Ukraine he scored 7.6ppg.
